The Commission will convene its Public Board Meeting on Saturday, March 20, from 10 AM – 12:30 PM. Based on guidance from the Department of Health related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) response, the meeting will be held remotely via video conference call. A dial-in option will also be available for those who are unable to access the meeting electronically.

| The Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee (EOGOAC) just released their annual report. This year’s report is titled Two Pandemics: Addressing the Experience of Violence and the COVID Pandemic for Students and Families Color. The EOGOAC’s 2021 report provides policy and strategy recommendations for decreasing pervasive racial disparities in education, as highlighted in the past year by the dual pandemics of the COVID-19 global pandemic and pandemic of racism and hate in this country. The report includes recommendations for OSPI, the state Legislature, local districts, and more.

Every year, CAPAA receives many requests for ceremonial greetings, proclamations, and letters. CAPAA and the Governor’s Office requires at least 30 days’ advance notice to process these requests. For instance, if your organization is hosting a Khmer New Year event on April 14 and would like a letter of greeting, please submit the request by March 15.

A new website created by the Washington State Small Business Recovery Working Group provides current information on available relief programs for Washington’s small businesses and eligible non-profits, as well as the organizations that assist them.
The goal is to help as many Washington small businesses and non-profits as possible access the help they need. Information will be added and updated as new guidance is released and as new resources become available.
The Foundation 649 Scholarship is now open! This scholarship, open to East and Southeast Asian American students, is a one-time grant of $2,000 that can be applied to college tuition. The aim of our scholarship is to promote and share Asian American culture and stories from students across the country.

The Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) is searching for a Senior Policy Advisory for Orca Recovery. This position is responsible for coordinating the recovery of Southern Resident Orcas for Washington State. In 2018 and 2019, the Governor’s Southern Resident Killer Whale Task Force issued two reports containing 49 recommendations. You will be responsible for coordinating and tracking the implementation of those recommendations, and establishing a statewide policy coordination framework to ensure the long term recovery of Southern Resident Killer Whales.
Annual salary range: $93,000.00 – $101,000.00
