The Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee (EOGOAC) just released their annual report. This year’s report is titled Two Pandemics: Addressing the Experience of Violence and the COVID Pandemic for Students and Families Color. The EOGOAC’s 2021 report provides policy and strategy recommendations for decreasing pervasive racial disparities in education, as highlighted in the past year by the dual pandemics of the COVID-19 global pandemic and pandemic of racism and hate in this country. The report includes recommendations for OSPI, the state Legislature, local districts, and more.

The Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee (EOGOAC) is a bicameral, bipartisan legislative and community workgroup committed to closing racial opportunity gaps in Washington’s K-12 public education system.

Every year, CAPAA receives many requests for ceremonial greetings, proclamations, and letters. CAPAA and the Governor’s Office requires at least 30 days’ advance notice to process these requests. For instance, if your organization is hosting a Khmer New Year event on April 14 and would like a letter of greeting, please submit the request by March 15.

For more information on requesting ceremonial proclamations, letters, and greetings, go to https://www.governor.wa.gov/contact/requests-invites/request-ceremonial-proclamation-greeting-or-letter

CAPAA’s mission is to improve the lives of Asian Pacific Americans in Washington State, and we do so by working in partnership with our communities and state leaders to respond to concerns and bring about positive change and long-term solutions. To that end, we have the ability to provide fiscal sponsorship as co-sponsor for a celebration, event, or organizing effort.

If your organization is hosting an event soon, consider applying for sponsorship! We are happy to sponsor events that meet the following criteria:

  1. The event supports an effort to improve the livelihood of the Asian and Pacific American communities throughout Washington State;
  2. The event involves CAPAA participation and presence;
  3. CAPAA’s financial involvement is not disproportionate to its participation when compared to other co-sponsors.

For more information and to apply for sponsorship, go to https://capaa.wa.gov/apply-for-sponsorship/
