The meetings will be a forum to gather your ideas and input to better inform the development of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) to implement this new law, HB 3026. There will be additional hearings regarding the exact language of the rules. This process precedes but does not substitute the formal rulemaking process, including public hearings on the exact language of the new rules and its related procedures.
Background
In 2010, the Washington State Legislature and Governor Gregoire passed the bill HB 3026, which bans discrimination in public schools based on race, creed, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation including gender expression or identity, veteran or military status, the presence of any sensory, mental, or physical disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal by a person with a disability.
